Gongon – the “King-Track"

The valley of Gongon named by the bird Gongon is a very impressive valey and the hike has very spectacular views and sections. It’s a hike for accustomed hikers because of its duration and hight difference.

It starts in the Natural Park of Serra Malagueta and goes down to the Gon-gon valley, up over a ridge and down in the valley of Principal until the ocean. It’s very beautiful and divesified – it’s maybe the best of all - the King of Tracks!

Bird Gongon (pterodroma feae): a rare species of birds only existing in Cape Verde and Madeira. Because the eggs of this bird are used for medical use by Capeverdian people, the species never grew big.
